Anniversary Staycation at Grand Hyatt Dubai

Since we had already tried the food at Andiamo! and Peppercrab, and our girls told us during Grand Hyatt Dubai's Christmas tree lighting that they wanted to spend a night there, the 5-star luxury hotel located at the edge of Dubai Creek was a good choice for our anniversary staycation this year.   So taking advantage of their corporate rates and summer promotion, I booked our family for an overnight stay last weekend.

Arriving at 11am on Friday, we were promptly taken cared of by the valet, bellboy, and reception.  Now even though we've visited the hotel a number of times already, the lobby of Grand Hyatt Dubai always impresses me.  It's just so...grand!
I had expected a room with a view of the skyline, but since we were upgraded to a Club Creekside Room on the 6th floor, our view was of the Garhoud Bridge, Metro Green Line and Creek (obviously). Considering our room and bathroom were extremely spacious, we didn't mind.  Sophie was especially pleased, saying "Mommy, I love this hotel!"
Our youngest had a birthday party to go to that afternoon, and we didn't return until late that night, so we weren't able to enjoy the hotel's facilities that day.  We only took a nap before heading out. Oh well.

However, we were surprised when, upon our return, we saw our bed and the entire room made, the kids' used clothes refolded and neatly stacked, and this on the table:
Don't you just love it when hotels do something for their guests on occasions like birthdays and anniversaries?  It really makes us feel really special, right?

The four of us fit in the king bed very comfortably and we all woke up the next day feeling very relaxed.  We were granted late check-out until 3pm, and since Caila and Sophie didn't want to waste anymore time of our stay, we quickly started our day with buffet breakfast at The Collective.
Our filling breakfast of waffles & pancakes, eggs, baked beans, sausages, bread, pastries, cereals, and a whole lot more was immediately followed by a quick trip to our room to change, and then we all headed to the vast lawn towards the outdoor pools where we all enjoyed swimming in the children's pool...yes, even us adults because of the fun slides!
When we noticed Sophie had started shivering, Hubby and I decided it was time to go back to the room, despite our girls' protests.  They only agreed to get out of the water when we promised we would take them to the indoor pool later.

So after an hour, we kept our word and headed to the Ahasees Spa and Club where the temperature-controlled indoor pool was.
However, only a small part of the pool was shallow, so we just stayed at that side while we were there.  I did manage to free myself for a few minutes to practice my backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle for a couple of laps, though, because I so missed swimming!

Tired, hungry, and with girls whose fingers had wrinkled, we decided it was time to leave the pool and return to Room 673.  Hubby ordered lunch while I started washing Caila and Sophie, so the food promptly arrived when all of us had already showered and dressed.
As with most hotels we've stayed at, the room service food was good. Hubby and I enjoyed the Nasi Goreng and Noodle & Dimsum Soup, while our daughters loved the creamy Mushroom & Chicken Carbonara Fettuccine.  The crackers, bread and butter weren't ignored either because they were the first to be gobbled up by the little ones.

Finally, it was time to leave our one-night "nice, nice house." We packed our bags, headed downstairs, and checked out without any problems.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the Kidz Club or any of the services at the spa because of the lack of time, but who knows? Since our girls love the hotel so much, we just might give in to their request to go back for another night...or two.
